The roots of Imperial Classical Ballet stem from the early days of the ISTD and the first written syllabus in 1913 which was based on the teaching of the French School from the Paris Opéra. The syllabus has now evolved to promote the English classical style and address the changing needs of Ballet dancers today.
All Ballet Classes are catered towards the level of experience of pupils. We always strive for excellent technique and as always, joy in movement.
This is how the Wednesday Ballet sessions are scheduled:
|Baby Ballet (2-3 yrs)||15:15 - 15:45|
|Ballet (Pre Primary / 3-4 yrs)||16:00 - 16:45
|Ballet (Primary & Tap / 5-7 yrs)||17:00 - 18:00|
A fun little class - An introduction to moving to music, laying the strong foundations of dance and ballet. We have weekly themes including, the Sweet shop, fairies, teddy bears picnic, playtime and many more.We improvise, play games, march, jump, sing and generally have a great time using our imaginations.
The Main point of this class is learning the beginnings and basics of ballet in a FUN and friendly way.
We teach discipline and ballet positioning. The basics of good practice - things like, stance, musicality, good toes and naughty toes but this is a predominately fun class.
We do lots of skipping, running on toes, jumping, spinning, improvisation to music as well as miming with props, galloping like horses, clapping and marching. It's a great class for interacting with other children, building confidence and letting the imagination run wild, and if we manage to teach them a bit of posture then it's a bonus.
A great class for the children to start to develop their dancing skills. Obviously the basics are the backbone of ballet and we always encourage good posture and carriage of the body. We learn ballet steps and begin learning the French vocabulary for what we are doing.
This group are still young and dance is nothing without FUN and JOY so we have lot's of that - playing games, jumping and spinning. We love to be wizards and cast spells to develop our improvisation and character acting.
